Rainbow Bridge welcomes Brody

I wanted to honor my little friend, Brody Carmack.
He made the crossing to the Rainbow Bridge this month and he will be missed terribly. He was always such a fun boy to be around, the word that comes to mind when I think of him and his antics is Character. He was a wonderful friend and companion to Ron & Dorothy and I know they will miss him. I hope they can take comfort in knowing he is not in pain anymore and is running and playing at the Bridge with my beloved, Marilyn, Pixie and Blarney. Be happy my little friend, you are missed.

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Merry Christmas Ya'll!

I'm sure everyone is getting ready for Christmas, I know I am trying. Not easy to do when you don't have much time, but I'm getting there. I am looking forward to having my son, Jacob here with me for Christmas. I miss having him around all the time. My grooming schedule is almost full from now until Christmas, only have a couple of openings left. That is a good thing and a bad thing. Good because everyone's baby is going to look pretty for Christmas, Bad because I'm TIRED! haha
I wanted you all to see Poochie Crabtree's Christmas "do" He was so proud of himself when I finished. Poochie is one of the kids I colored for Halloween, so why not do the same for Christmas? We can't call him a little Grinch tho, he doesn't act like the Grinch.
Enjoy the picture and May Christmas bring all you hope for.

Thanksgiving greetings

I hope everyone one had a wonderful Thanksgiving and didn't eat too much. I certainly enjoyed the much needed time off.
Holidays are such busy times for us groomers, seems there is hardly enough time to do much of anything but work and sleep. But the puppies have to look good for Christmas and Santa.
If you haven't already scheduled your Christmas appointment, I suggest you do so very soon, I am already beginning to fill up and would hate for someone to not be able to get an appointment.
I did get to spend the entire last weekend with my son! I went to DC for the weekend and he stayed with me the whole time, something he normally doesn't do. Of course, I think it had alot to do with me letting him drive everywhere too. ;) Kids and learner's license....I think I found a few more gray hairs by the time I headed back to Bristol.
I took this picture of him with my baby Bull Terrier, Darla.
Enjoy and remember, get your appointment early.

Hugs & treats to you all.

Halloween dress up

Happy Halloween everyone!!
Wanted to post some pictures of Poochie Crabtree & Buddy Moye with their "costumes" on. Rascal & Sassy had to get in on the action too of course, they might have missed out on a piece of pizza crust. ;)
I want to thank their folks for letting me color the kids, I talked them into it & had a ball doing coloring them. I think the kids like their new looks too. Both kids are sporting a "Shadow Dutch" clip, but since Pooch wears a sweater alot, we decided to do his head & ears, but not his body. Look for them about town while they are "working"

Ready for Howl-o-ween??

Feather is decked out & ready for some Howl-o-ween goodies!

News & Newsletter

Wow, been a while since I posted here! Have been so busy, seems I don't have time for much except sleeping & working, & not always in that order!
As most of you know, I finally won the fight with the phone company & got my old number back, so now the one in the phone book is the right one! Also, I got a new bird, a Cockatiel named Pappy. I lost my 16 year old, Charm over the summer & missed him so much, thank you Helen for trusting me with this beautiful boy. He is learning how to do a Bob White & some of Dixie so far.
Alot of you emailed & let me know you couldn't get my last newsletter open, so I thought I would put it on here for you. Enjoy & I hope to post some more later this evening. The Redskin game is on right now, so I'm going to watch that first. ;)

Toxic Plants & More

Little Mitzi Knight went to the Rainbow Bridge this month. She was 16. I am going to miss her terribly. She was always a favorite of mine to groom. Please remember her folks in your thoughts. This newsletter is dedicated to her.

I finally have old number back!
After a few months of fighting with the phone company, I have my original number again!

We know to keep certain poisons--like antifreeze--away from our pets, but many people don’t know how toxic their houseplants are. When we are careful growing these twelve houseplants that are considered toxic, we can help to keep our pets safe. If kept in a place away from your pets, you can safely have these beautiful plants, I have a few of them myself. Just remember, dogs are like children, if you DON’T want them to do something, they will try their best to do it anyway. Better to be safe than sorry.

Aloe Vera
Boston Ivy
Caladium
Dumb Cane
English Ivy
German Ivy
India Rubber Plant
Mistletoe
Philodendron
Potted Chrysanthemum
Weeping Fig
Yew

For a complete list visit: www.library.uiuc.edu/vex/toxic/comlist.htm
Animal Poison Control Center: 1-888-4ANI-HELP (1-800-426-4435)

I pray none of us never need to use that number, but it’s good to have just in case. Of course, always keep your vet informed if your baby swallows something he/she shouldn’t.

Visitors

It's a little hard to see the "visitors" in the picture, but look real close under that cherry tree. (you can also click on the picture to enlarge it) The dogs were "having a cow" (sorry, couldn't resist that one) & barking like crazy, along with these babies' mamas bellowing like mad, so when I checked to see what was going on, I found these 3 Amigos roaming around my backyard. I am happy to report, after calling their owner & about 30 minutes of round up, they are back where they belong. :) Posted by Picasa

FINALLY, an update

I know, I know, shame on me! I have been bad about updating this as well as my website! I have been so busy with things around here. My grooming has really taken off this year! I am so excited about that!
Also, Jake graduated June 16th & I went to DC to watch my "little boy" receive his diploma. (No, I didn't cry, but I wanted to) After graduation, Jake & a couple of his friends came down for a week, so I spent as much of my free time with them that I could. I sure hated to see them go.
As for my grooming, like I said, busy as a cat's tail in a room full of rocking chairs! I am booking about 2 weeks in advance & suggesting that folks make their next appointment when I leave. That way you know you have an appt. and won't have to wait.
My own "furkids" are doing great. Feather, the Bull Terrier, got her first point towards her AKC championship at our show here in Kingsport, I was so proud of her! Not sure where we will head to next, probably Greenville, SC.
Best get off here for the night, it's late & I am so tired I am about to fall asleep at the puter.
I will try to update more often, I promise.
Have a safe and happy 4th, my Jake will be 18 on the 4th, so I know mine will be a happy one.

Happy dog's bedtime prayer

The Happy Dog's Bedtime Prayer

Now I lay me down to sleep,
The queen-size bed is soft and deep.
I sleep right in the center groove
My human being can hardly move!

I've trapped her legs,
she's tucked in tight,
And here is where I pass the night.
No one disturbs me or dares intrude
Till morning comes and I want food!

I sneak up slowly and it begins
My nibbles on my human's chin.
She wakes up slowly and smiles and shouts,
"You darling beast! Just cut it out!"
But morning's here and it's time to play
I always seem to get my way.

So thank you, Lord, for giving me <>This human person that I see
The one who hugs and holds me tight
and shares her bed with me at night!

Beautiful Days

Don't ya'll just love this time of year? I sure do, I have gotten so busy, I haven't had time to work in my yard, but I am so looking forward to doing just that today. I have been working so much, I had to take today off, just to get some things done here at home & I couldn't have picked a better day to do it. Think I will work outside today, instead of inside, like I had planned.
I groomed The Crabtree & Moye kids on Sat. & boy did I have a great time! I set up on the back deck & the dogs enjoyed being out in the sunshine as much as I did. I brought my Chihuahua, Cissy with me as well, since I knew Robert & Gloria's kids get along with everyone. Cissy & Poochie had a blast playing. I think they were excited about finally having someone their own size to play with.
Poochie has the most gorgeous ears & they get in the way sometimes when I am grooming him, so I put them up with little girl's hair ties. I couldn't resist taking that picture!
If you all want to see Poochie in person, Robert owns Commonwealth Car Care on Commonwealth Ave. & Poochie is the "Official Greeter" & Vice President there. While you are there, be sure to talk to the guys about car care, they have the best customer service there & the guys know their stuff. Gonna get started on my outside work, I have a pond that really needs cleaning up so that is first on the list.

Catching Up

Since I didn't post yesterday, thought I better get it done today & give everyone a 2 for 1 post. Both days were really busy & I was worn out by the time I got back home. Yesterday, (Monday) was a pretty good day. I started off with one of the cutest Yorkies! She is left long, & her owner takes such great care of her coat, I have never seen even the littlest knot in her. She gets so excited when I pull out the bows & bandana & will just sit there real still so I can get her topknot up. After that, I went to an 18 year old Cocker's house, she is such a sweet dog, & still gets around great for a dog that age! Cassie, the cocker, also has a cat that lives with her, Riley. Talk about funny! This cat is a riot! He nosed around in the bathroom while I was grooming Cassie, watched what I was doing, sticking his nose in all my bags & boxes, then jumped up on the table while I had Cassie in the tub, & made himself at home. He layed there grooming himself & when I got ready to put Cassie back on the table, I just moved Riley over...well THAT did not go over well, Riley didn't appreciate being moved, that was HIS table he informed me!! He proceeded to swat Cassie, then me, & followed that with a bite to both of us! He didn't break skin on me or Cassie, but he did hurt! I ended up having to "kick him out" of the bathroom, just to get Cassie finished. haha By the time I got done with her, Riley was over his mad & back to being sweet. I told you this cat was a riot!
Today, I got to do the sweetest, most well-behaved Poodle puppy! Pongo stood there like he has been getting groomed for years & it was only his 2nd grooming! I gave him a "Summer Clip" the one with the Pom Poms on the legs & he looked so cute! I hope to get him in my album on my site tonight, if I can stay up that long. LOL
Until next time.........
Feel free to comment or post pictures.

Angie

Jake, my Senior

My little boy is not a little boy anymore! I don't know whether to cry or celebrate! But I know I am so proud of him!

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog! This is my first attempt at one of these, but thought you all might be interested in just what all my days consist of, both grooming and at home. Bear with me if it looks horrible sometimes, I'll tackle this like I do most everything else I have done on the computer, keep at it until I get it right. I hope to have it so you can post comments to this blog as well.
Again, welcome & I hope I don't end up "boring you to tears"
